I'm not her religion teacher!

I was saying goodnight to Jacinta (a.k.a. Choo choo) one night last week when she announced that she had been watching a movie. (The girls had been watching Jesus of Nazareth)

She went on to say, "Mary had a baby, and then she was just so tired that she fell asleep!"

I asked:"What was the baby's name?"

Choo choo, very decidedly: "Pocahontas."

Me, choking slightly: "Pocahontas?"

Choo choo: "Well his name was Pocahontas, but then they named him Jesus."

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

Little headaches, little heartaches
Little griefs of every day,
Little trials and vexations,
How they throng around our way!
One great cross, immense and heavy,
So it seems to our weak will,
Might be borne with resignation,
But these many small ones kill,
Yet all life is formed o small things,
Little leaves, make up the trees,
Man tiny drops of water
Blending, make the mighty seas.
Let us not then by impatience
Mar the beauty of the whole,
But for love of Jesus bear all
In the silence of our soul.
Asking Him for grace sufficient
To sustain us through each loss,
And to treasure each small offering
As a splinter from His Cross.

Soccer!

The soccer season has finally started!!!!

Pictures from day 2

Left (L-R) Andrew, Maddie, and Jack of the Poofie hat in the doorway to mine and Maddie's room in Spiekeroog.

Above to the right (L-R) Andrew, Nora, Jack, and Maddie on the spinning thing at the park we played at.

Below to the left is what we like to call the 'Dead Marshes.' The Spiekeroogians refer to it as the Mud flats.

Above to the right are the dunes, hummocks, hills, bluffs..whatever you want to call them..near the beach. I forgot to mention in the above post that we went wading in the North Sea in March! It was freezing!!!

Spiekeroog! (The second day)

Ok. So..
The 1st night Maddie had me agree to a crazy plan. We were going to get up in the middle of the night, take our blankets and pillows, and go upstairs to sleep in the 'clubhouse.' When the boys woke up we were going to scare them as they came out of their room. Everything went wrong from the beginning. First of all, Maddie woke me up at 1:30am (That's right AM!) and made me get up. We weren't sure if she would be able to wake up later, so we decided that we'd have to go upstairs then. Then she said that Nora couldn't sleep, and that she was coming with us. We started up the stairs. "CREAK!" I knew from that very moment that this 'plan' of ours would be a disaster. Some time later Nora creaked back down the stairs to her bed where she spent the rest of the night.
We fell asleep, but somewhere around 7 we all woke up. Nora, at this point in time was with us. She decided to get a baby doll to play with..she creaked down the stairs..Maddie and I both winced. She creaked up the stairs..more wincing. Then she decided to go downstairs, "Ok, but you have to stay there this time!" "CREAK! CREAK!" *wince wince* Finally some peace..not for long though.. "CREAK! CREAK!" *wince wince* "What do you need Nora?" "I'm going to stay with you now." This performance was repeated.
Finally Andrew emerged and looked straight at us. He stared..said, "What are you doing" and went down the stairs. We should have just given up then, but no. We had Nora try to get Jack out of his room for at least 15min, but it didn't work. Andrew had forewarned him. So much for that bright idea. Sleeping on the floor is no joke..especially with no blanket underneath! Sore ribs!
The rest of the day we spent visiting German relatives and friends, eating, playing on the playground, eating, watching Scooby Doo 2, and eating. By the end of the day we were stuffed with gummy bears, German tea cakes, and who knows what else. I'd go into details, but this post is already pretty long.
I'll just say that we had a ton of fun..Pictures to follow.
